5 Perfect Things For Fall
Cold weather officially arrived on the East Coast this week, which has my mind turning happily to cozy autumn evenings at home with my family.
1. A perfect pair of comfy tall leather boots you can go anywhere in. I’ve got my eye on these beauties from Frye.
3. This adorable DIY maple leaf garland which has just the right balance between festive and elegant.
4. A blanket fort full of twinkle lights for a picnic-and-a-movie date with my hubby.
5. Stratford Hall Ginger Cookies and spiked cider. I acquired a famous recipe for ginger cookies on a middle school field trip to Stratford Hall and they’re so delicious I have baked them every autumn since. They leave the house smelling so spicy and wonderful! They taste great with milk, but better with hot spiked cider. My husband would also recommend a good-quality pumpkin ale.
3 sticks margarine, softened
1/2 cup molasses
2 cups sugar
Sift together & add to the above mixture:
4 cups flour
1 t. ginger
4 t. soda
1 t. cloves
2 t. cinnamon (I always add more)
Refrigerate dough for several hours. Make into small balls, roll in sugar. Bake at 350 until firm or brown – about 8-10 minutes. Yield: Approximately 5 dozen
